White mist and gray
Cold silent air
Before dawn
Before heat
before man noise
The antarctic slides
Down slopes
Amid eucalyptus trees
And uva vines
Into espino branches
Where swallows gather
And doves quietly coo
Hillside life murmurs
The ending of its night songs
This living mist
Moistens the earth
Drawing granite and clay
To my lips and my skin
Light gathers.
