In the lost parts of my soul
Lost with the tides as they inexorably pull from shore,
Lost with the train carrying my father from the station
while I watch through bars on the bridge spanning the tracks,
Lost with the strains of melody held captive by the child who is no more
There are memories of deeper ties
Ties that sing with the stars while the world sleeps its active sleep
Stars that hold the filigree patterns of heaven
Ancient light when the world was born
Innocent light filling the heart
With joys so sweet as to be nearly unbearable.
These joys echo from lost soul yearnings
An unbearable loss I only touch
In the quiet darkness of solitude
