The sun falls slowly over the sea
Casting beams of golden alchemy
Across waters deep with dark delight
A moon waxes full with eastern light
This captain steers his ship due west
The mates, his hands, all do their best
The wind is taut with a bluish green
White sails filled with life marine
Catching the breath of the endless sky
Its spirit moves as seagulls fly
Fast and true to the distant shore
Braving currents that rip and score
Fast away from that land I flew
Where strangers lived their lives askew
Slaves to war and pride and lust
All things that bring the soul to dust
Tis light and life and love I seek
Free to live, free to speak
The hourglass sands have all run short
I steer my ship fast to port
I thank the winds that filled my sails
I thank the sins that did not prevail
I thank the stars for directions true
And for all the scars now made new
For the pure land I sought so long
Where voices sing a fresh new song
My spirit docked at home at last
No more my soul a lone outcast
