Stillness falls on evening
After storms have passed and gone
Remnants of its leaving
Scattered pieces short and long
I take my fill of silence
As grasses fill with rain
Breathing in the balance
Of stars that cross the plain
Light’s colors may be shrouded
In the deepening blues and grays
But my senses are not clouded
To the rhythms of this day
The vastness of all space
Is released by the setting sun
I thankfully embrace
What storm’s labors here have done
