Ten To Three

Waiting, waiting for the ten oh two
Waiting alone with thoughts of you
The station’s sad and empty
All the riders found their trains
I just see blue lights
On tracks in falling rain

A freight with sprawling box cars
Is idling down the line
The burden that its pulling
Stretches bent along a spine
I just see blue lights
And wonder at the sign

A man sits in the corner
Rolled up paper by his feet
He’s been sitting there since morning
He’s come in off the street
I just see blue lights
Flashing cold in summer’s heat

There’s a notice on the wall
Says the trains are running late
I’m sitting in the corner
Cold black coffee as my fate
I just see blue lights
And that heavy, heavy freight

I’m waiting for the train
That’s carrying you home to me
I’m waiting for the train
That holds your heart for only me
I’m waiting for the train
The clock’s turned ten to three
