Sunflowers

Near the slope grow golden flowers
Refreshed by winds from off the shore
Made bounteous from the showers
Mined from seas like precious ore

Mixed in with blue-belled neighbors
Who are shorter there by far
They toil with simple labor
That human conflicts cannot mar

These giants enthrall with boldness
As they rise to unending skies
They melt indifferent coldness
From all guests that wander by

Their seeds are food for many
As the precious oils spill
With nutrients aplenty
For all creatures to have their fill

I enjoy my ramble by them
Before the dusk turns into night
For their beauty is a fulcrum
That fills my fancy with delight
