The hibiscus in the garden
Trumpets a deep and resounding pink
With a slender stem it stands out
And refuses to ever shrink
The humming birds enjoy it
As does a butterfly or two
It stands a regal sentry
To the garden’s other few
The arching of its petals
As they reach out for the sun
Are like bridges to the heavens
That my heart may walk upon
And so my sweet hibiscus
Your purpose is complete
You’ve brought me nearer beauty
And swept me off my feet
