These roads I’ve seen a thousand times
Walked their curves, walked their lines
Memories crowd and fill their cracks
Memories I’ve tucked away in back
Old friends and family haunt these ways
Where young love grew then passed away
Where bikes and balls and bats held sway
And summer seemed to last all day
These streets filled with oaks and ash
With houses built as homes to last
Where families raised young then old
And grudges sometimes grew like mold
These streets were once the world I knew
Where innocent schemes hatched then flew
Replaced with others the following morn
Some found wings, others still born
I’ve traveled so many roads since then
Some dark, some light, some over again
These smaller ones I’ll ever hold close
For they’re the ones I do love most
